Abstract
Adequately trained train drivers are a fundamental prerequisite for the safe, reliable and service-oriented operating of trains. This includes not only the handling of normal conditions but especially the efficient and safe handling of unexpected events and additional tasks.
In order to train these competences the Deutsche Bahn AG / DB Training in cooperation with the Centre for Traffic Sciences at the University of Würzburg has developed a new training programme. This training programme exceeds the already existing simulator trainings: Especially the competences of the train driver for the handling of degraded and complex situations will be increased by the training. By practising the correct actions in many different situations the train driver learns to react appropriately in a lot of operational situations and to avoid human error.
The following competence areas are addressed by EXPERT:
- Handling of multiple tasks
- Safe decisions and control of action
- Situation-adequate communication
- Fatigue/optimal activation
Each of the first three modules is bookable as one hour simulator training. The module fatigue/optimal activation is designed as a classroom training. Since 2006 EXPERT is listed in the product catalogue of DB Training.
