Call for Papers: Aggression and Antisociality across the Lifespan
02/25/2026The journal Borderline Personality Disorder and Emotion Dysregulation (BMC) invites submissions for a new collection on the development, mechanisms, and treatment of aggression and antisocial behavior. Submission deadline: 23 November 2026.
Further information and submission
The upcoming collection “Aggression and Antisociality: Development, Mechanisms, and Treatment across the Lifespan” seeks interdisciplinary contributions addressing aggression and antisocial behavior in the context of personality pathology and related conditions. Submissions using clinical, translational, and experimental approaches are welcome, particularly those examining affective, cognitive, interpersonal, and neurobiological processes.
The editors encourage work based on dimensional models of personality and psychopathology (e.g., impulsivity, callousness, emotion dysregulation) as well as studies grounded in traditional diagnostic frameworks. Longitudinal and developmental research tracing the emergence and progression of aggression and antisociality across the lifespan is especially encouraged.
Contributions evaluating or developing prevention and intervention strategies are also sought, including psychotherapeutic, pharmacological, and community-based approaches. Studies investigating mechanisms of treatment response, moderators of change, and implementation in real-world settings are of particular interest. Research addressing social, situational, and environmental influences is likewise welcome.
In addition to original empirical research, the collection will include high-quality evidence syntheses such as systematic reviews and meta-analyses — particularly those offering substantive theoretical advancement.
The collection supports research aligned with SDG 3 “Good Health and Well-Being” and is edited by Katja Bertsch (University of Würzburg), Carlo Garofalo (University of Perugia), and Steven M. Gillespie (University of Liverpool).
