11/26/2024Franziska Epe-Jungeblodt and colleagues published on the topic: Influence of psychological consequences of accidents on the road safety-relevant driving skills of car drivers involved in accidents.
On behalf of the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), together with the Würzburg Institute of Traffic Sciences (WIVW), we investigated how traffic accidents affect the psychological stress of accident victims and their driving skills. To this end, we asked people who had been involved in accidents and those who had not been involved in accidents about their psychological stress and then tested their driving skills relevant to road safety in real traffic. The results showed a slight increase in psychological stress among the accident victims, but no differences in driving competence.
