Würzburg International Autumn School on Lasting Learning (WIASLL)

10/16/2023

The WIASLL 2023 provided a unique learning environment and platform for scientific exchange for doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers from psychology, education and the learning sciences working on the topic of lasting learning. The Autumn School took place from 9 to 13 October at the University of Würzburg, Germany.

Keynote Lectures, Hot-topic Sessions and Method Workshops were delivered by prominent experts in the field to deepen participants' knowledge and enhance their methodological skills.

We thank our distinguished keynote speakers, Veronica Yan, Shana Carpenter, Alexander Renkl, Steven Pan and Garvin Brod, for their sharing their insights into current research contributions in the field of lasting learning.

We are also grateful to all the lecturers who prepared their Hot-topic Sessions and Methods Workshops, which provided invaluable opportunities for discussion and learning.

After a series of engaging and intellectually stimulating days at the Autumn School, we were delighted to have the opportunity to connect with participants through a number of social activities. These included a guided tour of the Centre for the History of Psychology, an exploration of Würzburg's historic old town and a visit to the former summer residence of the prince-bishops of Würzburg, with an enlightening tour of the rococo courtyard garden of Veitshöchheim Palace.

Five distinguished researchers gave keynote lectures on their groundbreaking studies, projects and ideas.

The sessions provided an opportunity to deepen understanding, discuss and exchange ideas and thoughts on current research topics.

To get to know the history of Würzburg and it's surrounding area, several cultural and social activities were organised, such as visiting Veitshöchheim Castle and taking a guided tour of the Roccoco Garden. It was also a great opportunity to connect with other researchers in the field.

We want to thank all those who participated, lectured and assisted in making WIASLL2023 a great experience.
