Open Science workshop by Veit Kubik

15.03.2023

In recent years, Open Sciencea has become a central part of good scientific practice. The aim of Open Science is to make scientific processes more transparent and sustainable, and to prevent questionable scientific practices (such as p-hacking or HARKing). The Open Science workshop took place on the 7th and 14th of March 2023.

The workshop introduced the background of Open Science (including the replication crisis) and its main principles and practices. In the practical part, participants became familiar with the Open Science Framework (OSF) and implemented various Open Science practices (such as pre-registration, sharing of open data and open materials) in the OSF. Particular emphasis was placed on preregistration, where the research plan (including hypotheses and analyses) is typically documented in writing prior to data collection.

The Open Science Workshop was held by Dr. Veit Kubik (University of Würzburg).
